Storytelling for Health and Wellbeing Symposium

On Monday 10th June and Tuesday 11th June 2024, Principal Research Fellow, Dr Nina Worthington and Research Assistant, Charlotte Grainger from the Sidney De Haan Research Centre for Arts and Health, attended the Storytelling for Health and Wellbeing symposium at the University of South Wales, in Cardiff.

As part of a panel discussion, they presented their paper: ‘Shifting Disability Perspectives & Promoting Wellbeing Through Lived Experience Stories in the NHS Workplace”. The paper included IPA findings from the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital’s Beyond the Stigma exhibition project, capturing lived experience of disability among NHS staff through arts-based approaches – https://roh.nhs.uk/beyond-the-stigma/beyondstigma.

The conference featured many fascinating panel discussions, presentations and workshops, bringing together storytelling in diverse forms and contexts and the implications this can have for health and wellbeing. Thank you to the wonderful hosts and speakers at the University of South Wales Faculty of Creative Industries, Cwm Taff Morgannwg University Health Board and Swansea Bay University Health Board for this opportunity.
