Connecting in Coventry:
For the last conference of the season I was back on home turf, spending the day as a steering group member, discussing EDI and social justice with AHRC Critical Dance Pedagogy Network – connecting dance teachers, artists, academics and researchers across the UK to talk together about how dance education and training can be delivered better, drawing on research and profiling good practice.
CDP Network is led by Angela Pickard, Director of the Sidney De Haan Research Centre for Arts and Health at Canterbury Christ Church University and Dr. Kathryn Stamp, Coventry University who hosted this second of 4 seminars taking place 2024-25 at the Institute for Creative Cultures.
Parenting in dance was highlighted with IPADN CI Ali Duffy, Texas Tech University presentation on her research capturing experiences during COVID in the USA.
Presentations from English National Ballet, One Dance UK, @people_dancing_uk, three score dance and Jo Hodson Prior, University of Chichester and workshops including AWA DANCE | Charity, shows the breadth and diversity of what dance is doing with Jo commenting, ‘We are always fighting for dance in schools and higher education.’
The next seminar for the network is at The University of Edinburgh on 20th September 2024 – to join / for more info head to: https://lnkd.in/eTwT35CB
