{"id":266,"date":"2018-05-09T11:05:40","date_gmt":"2018-05-09T10:05:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/nicer\/?p=266"},"modified":"2023-06-13T10:31:35","modified_gmt":"2023-06-13T09:31:35","slug":"what-really-matters-about-teacher-education-at-cathedrals-group-universities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.canterbury.ac.uk\/national-institute-for-christian-education-research\/what-really-matters-about-teacher-education-at-cathedrals-group-universities\/","title":{"rendered":"What really matters about teacher education at Cathedrals Group universities"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>The NICER project, <i>What really matters about teacher education at Cathedrals Group universities<\/i>, sought to understand better how teacher education staff, partnership schools student teachers perceived their teacher education institutions and programmes including specific reference to the Institution\u2019s Christian foundation.<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/research.canterbury.ac.uk\/national-institute-for-christian-education-research\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2018\/05\/Screen-Shot-2018-05-16-at-12.40.06.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-310 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/research.canterbury.ac.uk\/national-institute-for-christian-education-research\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2018\/05\/Screen-Shot-2018-05-16-at-12.40.06-215x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"248\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/research.canterbury.ac.uk\/national-institute-for-christian-education-research\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2018\/05\/Screen-Shot-2018-05-16-at-12.40.06-215x300.png 215w, https:\/\/research.canterbury.ac.uk\/national-institute-for-christian-education-research\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2018\/05\/Screen-Shot-2018-05-16-at-12.40.06.png 481w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 248px) 100vw, 248px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The data was collected between November 2016 and January 2018.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The aims:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"ol1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">To investigate why ITE trainees choose Christian foundation university teacher training programmes<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">To investigate why schools choose Christian foundation universities as training programme partners<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">To investigate what Christian foundation universities claim is particular to their Christian foundation, what is\u00a0 particularly or deeply Christian about their ITE provision<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">To investigate what Christian foundation universities, ITE trainees and partnership schools claim about ITE trainees at the point of qualification, that is particular to the institutions\u2019 Christian foundation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"p1\">The National Institute of Christian Education Research at Canterbury Christ Church University led the research project. The project took place over two years with a pilot and qualitative phase and a quantitative phase.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Altogether, schools, students and university teacher educators from 5 universities were involved in both the quantitative and qualitative phases of the project:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Canterbury Christ Church University<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Chester University<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Chichester University<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">St Mary\u2019s University<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Leeds Trinity UniversityIn addition, Bishop Grosseteste University participated in the quantitative phase of the project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">Reports are now available online for downloading.
